I think if I could give one piece of advice to a younger woman, it would be "don't go up to a man's hotel room, meet him in the lobby instead." We are just so not expecting that behavior, and when it comes, it's such a shock. Thank you for sharing your story, Anissa. So creepy all this info that is coming out about him now.

You are right Elise. I am happy I escaped the sad fate of all these girls 😢

Oh dear, along with all his other defects, as a man he certainly lacked vision.

Your put-down, even at twenty-four, would have been a delight to witness🧐

Pleased to reconnect with you, Anissa, having gone down a Google rabbit hole courtesy "Ugly Delicious" Episode 7 Dave Chang.

“Not all men” and it’s just always all men. Either performing or turning their heads.

Beautifully written, and oooops I just slide also down the pesto trapanese reading ❤️

I think we had to be more savvy in those days but it was also a time when people were inclined to talk about whether or not the woman was 'asking for it' based on the clothes she wore. When I was in the gracery trade press there was definitely talk of these sorts of goings on at Harrod's and one of the famous hotels.

Anissa I can't be the only person here entranced by the chair in your magazine cover photo!

Too funny about the chair. It was the 70's after all :)

What a story! Glad you sensed how to deal with such behaviour, so it makes for a fun read rather than a sad one :)

Goodness, Anissa. That predatory behaviour that we're all coming to hear more and more of across the news is as strong in pattern here as it is in the stories of those far less fortunate women. I'm glad you were able to avoid his horrible traps and advance.

Sensible woman, Anissa! Maybe we were more savvy, in those days.

Or men were less aggressive?

Probably less aggressive, yr right. And gentlemen paid for a lady’s dinner without expecting anything in return. No longer - which might have something to do with equal pay (perception, anyway). Or who’s hand is appropriate in the mop-and-bucket situation.

Sorry to ruin the illusion ladies, the predatory behaviour is as old as time, along with battered wives/girlfriends!

The huge difference is that today we all have relatively easy access to e-devices for communication, the pioneering work that the likes of Ms Greer did, and as contraceptive choice became the prerogative of females.

How creepy. You were lucky to escape. It is interesting to read the headlines on the magazine cover. Brings back memories. The war in Lebanon was not really over yet.
