“Touch wood”. One of my favorites. My mother never cooked, always had a live in cook. When my husband and I immigrated, I realized that I did not know how to cook. I gradually learned by the memory of my mother in law’s cooking and flavors.
Love the photo of your grandmother and aunt. The kitchen is just incredible. And your mother (both photos) is always elegant even when she cooks. I'd love to be like her,
Anissa, thank you for introducing your beautiful mother. I particularly love that first photo where your mom looks right at the viewer; she looks like a force of nature! You inherited that regal self-possession from your mother in addition to her extraordinary cooking skills. Love from Kansas, Georgia
Such a wonderful post, Anissa! I only met your mother once - think it was in yr London kitchen in the loft apartment, and she was overseeing the proper preparation of kibbeh...
I love this, Anissa! So touching. I wish I could meet your mother some day but I'm afraid it won't happen. But I'll read your books with new understanding of her and her kitchen and table. Thank you!

Wonderful story, Anissa. I'm so glad your mother is well. She looks amazing. It's good to be in contact this way. XO
I'd love to photograph the two of you! Such striking women. And what a lovely story of kitchen jealousy!
Anissa, so glad to know your lovely mother is doing well. I recall your stories about her.
