A friend once told me that dancing is the vertical expression of horizontal intentions; and there is no clearer example of this (whether what he said was true or not) than this hilarious clip of the late Nadia Lotfi seducing the cook she is working with in the kitchen (who may be chopping parsley or mulukhiyeh) with her dancing. It is from a film of course (Bayn el Qasrayn ie. between two palaces) although I have only ever watched this clip, but from seeing her doing the washing while he is chopping, I assume she is the housekeeper and he the cook. They may of course be an ordinary newly married couple! Regardless, I never tire of watching it. It is both funny and endearing, and of course she is beautiful — I wish the days of plump women would come back. She was actually more of an actress than a dancer but she sure knows how to move, and unlike me she has a real sense of rhythm.
